Potential: You Have it. Will You Use it?
Has anyone ever told you, “You have potential”? Those with a healthy sense of self esteem (or those with over-inflated egos) have no trouble accepting the truth of that statement when it applies to them. However, for most of us, realizing potential is a difficult concept to grasp. Perhaps you are one who hears “You have potential!” and thinks, “Yeah, right. What could I possibly do? I have no skills and no talent.”
If you find yourself thinking this, stop right there. Here’s a news flash for you: every human being on this Earth has potential. Including you. Believing you can never accomplish anything is damaging to your self-esteem and absolutely prohibitive to any self-improvement efforts you might undertake. This means that even if you try to accomplish something you think you can’t, believing you lack potential is a recipe for disaster.
Unlocking your potential will boost your self esteem through the roof. Think you can’t do it? Therein lies the first step to discovering the potential inside you. Whatever it is you want to accomplish, you can. Look at the evidence all around you—human beings are capable of incredible achievements, and you are one of them. The key to self-improvement and unlocking potential lies inside each of us. All you have to do is stop telling yourself I can’t, and start believing in your own potential.
Self improvement and self esteem revolve around potential. If you refuse to realize you have just as much potential as the next person, you cannot possibly hope to improve. When you begin to trust your potential, you will see avenues opening up that you would never have thought possible before. Just remember two simple words: you can.
